FROM A BUTTERFLY, A STORY BEGAN IN GHANA

We are a fashion brand born from the union of Sandra and Mire – two girls whose paths crossed in Ghana in 2017, and since then, they’ve built a bond like mother and daughter, or older and younger sisters.

The name OKUTU means “butterfly” in Dangbe, the language of the Krobo people, where Sandra’s family comes from. The butterfly symbolizes change, freedom, and unity – and represents the beginning of their journey together.

At OKUTU we blend the rich craftsmanship of Ghanaian artisans with modern design sensibility. We collaborate with local women from Bolgatanga, Maase and other communities, combining traditional techniques such as straw weaving and crochet with African fabrics and vibrant colors.

Each piece is unique, handmade with care and with respect for the traditional craft and its rhythms.

OKUTU is more than a brand – it’s a shared story, a way of creating with soul, purpose, and roots.

Thank you for being part of our journey.
